Monthly Meeting
The February meeting will be held on Thursday February 4. We will begin gathering at Gnat’s Landing on SSI at 5:30. This will be a “working” meeting and it will begin at 6 promptly. We will be making sure that all last minute details are in order for the ball to be an absolute blast without any unexpected hitches. Committees will be ironing out last minute details, posters need to be hung, thank you notes written, sponsors followed up on, concerns discussed, plans mapped out, etc.
It would be REALLY helpful if all club members could attend and help out with last minute details!!!!!!
Please bring with you to Thursday’s meeting a list of possible sponsors that you have contacted and/or secured. We need to dig through this list and see what needs to happen before the ball occurs. Also bring with you any sponsor or ticket money that you have gathered. We need to get all the money in so that we know where we stand.
Bring a laptop if you have one. It may come in handy!
Also, details on our dress swap to come!
Thanks for your support!
Despite the weather yesterday, we had a great turnout for our 1st Annual Peddlin’ Poker Run! Tap 2 Tap was a big success and it was all because of you! We thank everyone for their support of the Brunswick Junior Womans Club, and in turn, the Southeast Georgia Health Systems Cardiac Rehab programs and Glynn Heart Association!
We ended the evening at Catch 228 with live entertainment from Kellie Parr and Honey Blue. The low country boil was fabulous! Best hand was a straight (6-10) with worst hand having a high card of 9! Also congrats to the winner of our 50/50 drawing and the numerous other winners of local restaurant gift certificates.

First Friday Recap
It was chilly last night at First Friday, but we saw lots of folks and even got an interview on the radio with Mark Douglas (Quantum Comunications). We stirred up some interest for our upcoming Tap 2 Tap 4 the Ticker: Peddlin’ Poker Run as well as the Red Dress Ball.
We hope to be in front of Southern Soul, Brogen’s South and Catch 228 next Friday with registration forms and Red Dress Ball tickets. More information to come, so check back often!
Thanks to Jessi Brown, Anna Messer, and April Herbert for helping out!
Alliance for Smiles, Inc.
The following was submitted by Brunswick Junior Woman’s Club member, Amber Rahn.
Dear Friends,
I am Amber Rahn, a special needs Pre-K teacher in Brunswick, Georgia. I am writing this letter because I have been given a very special opportunity to provide services for under-privileged children in Ghana, Africa. I will be traveling in April on a 2 week mission as the Family Activities Coordinator with Alliance for Smiles!
Alliance for Smiles is a non-for-profit organization that organizes and sends surgical teams to sites for two week missions. A surgical team is comprised of approximately 20 volunteer plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, nurses and dentists. They are supported by 10 non-medical volunteers. During a mission, 80 to 120 under-served children receive surgery for cleft lip & palate anomalies. The AfS team works side-by-side with local medical practitioners to exchange ideas on proper medical techniques and procedures, as well as provide follow-up care.
Our Mission Statement: To repair children’s broken smiles by providing free comprehensive treatment for cleft lip and palate deformities in under-served areas of the world.
I am now on a mission of my own. That mission is to raise money to get me to Africa to help these children! I am taking 2 weeks unpaid leave to participate in the mission so any donations are very much needed and appreciated. Donations can be given in many different forms such as, frequent flyer miles, spare change, check, or cash. All funds left over after getting to Africa will be donated directly to Alliance for Smiles.
Please help however you can! You may donate online at www.allianceforsmiles.org(please let Alliance for Smiles know your donation is to help Amber Rahn’s mission), or send cash/check to me personally. I would love for you to view the website to see what an impact that this organization has on lives around the world. (All donations made to Alliance for Smiles are tax deductable.)
I am very excited and hope to raise more than enough money for the Africa mission!
Thank you for your donation!
